My journey with amateur radio.

I recently had the opportunity to present a program on FT-4 and FT-8 operation to the Radio Club of Redmond. Given that you would have to be living under a rock somewhere to not at least be aware of this popular digital mode, the challenge was to make sure that the presentation had a little bit of something for everyone.

The goals of the session were to orient people who may be less comfortable with the mode for basic operation (and where ZL2IFB's excellent FT-8 tips guide could continue their learning process), give some technical details around how FT-8 finds signals to optimize station operation techniques, and then how to use supplemental software like GridTracker to organize the waterfall better.

For those interested, I also recommend watching Joe Taylor's WSJT-X FT-8 and Beyond presentation.
